     Research Note: in his will dated 15 September 1893 and proved after his death on 29 September 1910 he acknowledges William ALSTEAD as his illegitimate son.
Richard CHURCHOUSE was born in 1839 at Aspull, Lancashire.
Richard married Mary ALSTEAD, daughter of William ALSTEAD and Mary MARTIN, in 1872 at the Register Office, Wigan, Lancashire.1
His wife, Mary, died in August 1875 at Wigan, Lancashire.2
In the census of 3 April 1881 at 4 Heaton Street, Aspull, Lancashire, Richard was listed as a widower, aged 42 born Aspull, the Head of Household; a Joiner, living with his sons William and James.3
In the census of 5 April 1891 at 6 Harold Street, Aspull, Lancashire, Richard was listed as a widower, aged 52 born Aspull, the Head of Household; a Joiner, living with his sons William ALSTEAD and James CHURCHOUSE, daughter Elizabeth CHURCHOUSE.4
In the census of 31 March 1901 Richard was listed as a widower, aged 62 born Aspull, the Head of Household; Living on Own Means, with his daughter Elizabeth ECKERSLEY, son-in-law Thomas ECKERSLEY, grandsons John and William ECKERSLEY.5
Richard died on 12 September 1910 at 6 Harold Street, Aspull, Lancashire.6,7 Richard was buried on 16 September 1910 at St David, Haigh, Lancashire. His estate was probated on 29 September 1910 at Manchester, Lancashire. The estate was valued at £425 15s 11d.7

William married Florence Elizabeth BELL in 1919 at St Lawrence, Morecombe, Lancashire.5 He was listed in the 1939Register taken on 29 September 1939 at 18 Carleton Street, Morecombe and Heysham, Lancashire. William died on 7 January 1961 at The Royal Infirmary, Lancaster, Lancashire, at the age of 74.7 His estate was given Letters of Administration on 17 April 1962 at Lancaster, Lancashire. The estate was valued at £1,325.8
