Was living in Hawkinsville, Pulaski County, GA in 1850, 60 & 70, along with his son Andrew Thomas Holstead, my grandfather, and migrated to North Louisiana where my father was born." also from Jodon - "My fathers family and all my kinfolk in Lincoln Parish, Louisiana pronounce it "Hall-sted". My great-grandfather spelled it Halsted, Halstead and Holstead, some how or another, we ended up with Holstead.My gr-gr grandfather (Andrew Jackson Holstead) moved to Louisiana from Georgia in the late 1870's. I haven't been able to trace my ancestry beyond this. I suspect that he was born in North Carolina and is related to the Halstead line of John A. Halstead of Chesapeake, Virginia."
