>>Thanks for answering my query, Joe.
>>All I know for sure is that Theodore settled in Garrison, MN in his later years. His son Clarence was born in Pipestone, MN, and Donald was born in South Dakota. His first wife, Angeline received a postcard from Donald in 1916 addressed to her in Hopkins, MO. Hazel Hallstead (don't know relationship) was in Hopkins, MO in 1906 because she received a postcard there. I don't know where Frank was born but he died in Colorado where he settled. Donald's children all lived in Milwaukee, WI. Theodore C., his second wife Ella, their son Lyle are all buried in Garrison, MN. Donald and his first wife, Merle, and Clarence and his wife Gertrude are buried in Garrison, also. Don't know where Frank or their mother Angeline Hamm is buried. I don't know Theodore's ancestry. That's what I'm trying to find out.Do you have any clues or information from what I wrote above? >>Linda halstead wrote: He isn't in my file just yet. Who, where was he? Do you know what line he is in? >>> Regards, Joe >>>

- THEODORE CHESTER HALLSTEAD, b. Dec. 18, 1867. I have a picture of his son as a baby taken at Elite Studio, Watertown, SD. He is being held by a lady identified only as Mrs. Weaver. Theodore’s nickname was "Dode". The 1920 Census gives his birthplace as Iowa. It also lists his home as Minnesota, where he died in 1922. He was a farmer who moved to Minnesota around 1910. Probably from South Dakota.

- I can verify my Hallstead history from my mother back to John Francis Hallstead, b. 1834 in Lenox Township, Susqueshanna, Pa, d. 11/27/1897 in Waucoma, Fayette Cty., Iowa. He married Nancy Scott, b. 3/17/1835 in Illinois and d. 2/3/1874 in Hawkeye, Iowa. They had seven children, one of which was Theodore Chester Hallstead. Theodore, some of his brothers and Scott family members settled in and around Garrison, MN where they are buried. I have Samuel L. Hallstead, b. 1809 in Luzerne, PA and d. 11/21/1895 in Harrison Twp Winnebago Co., IL as the father of John Francis Hallstead. Samuel L Hallstead married Maria Capwell of PA on 7/5/1830. They had 11 children. I believe the start of spelling Halstead with two L's started either with Samuel or John Francis. John Francis Hallstead was called Frank.
Does this jive with your information? I got a lot of information from the net and Salt Lake. I don't have birth or death certificates. I'm not sure where my grandfather, Donald Harry Hallstead was born, either Iowa or North Dakota. He was the oldest son of Theodore Chester (Dode) Hallstead's five children. I am would like to exchange information with someone who is interested in this line. I would like to fill in the many gaps I still have. I am also looking for cousins, descendants of Dode Hallstead. Linda
