    • Joseph's first wife Grace was with her parents in 1881 with their three children. No trace can be found of Grace and her parents after that. She certainly did not die as a HALSTEAD.

      Whlist Joseph did not marry again until 1894 all of the children from Elizabeth, born in 1884, have a mothers maiden name of THORNLEY according to the Lancashire BMD website

      The two oldest children William Henry and Alice Jane cannot be found either after the 1891 census
