HALSTEAD, David Wileder, b. 2 Mar 1842, Trumbull County, Ohio, USA d. 28 Aug 1918 (Age 76 years) |

FARNHAM, Hannah, b. Feb 1841, Ohio, USA d. 5 Mar 1916 (Age 75 years) |
| Marriage |
Abt 1867 |
La Rue, Marion County, Ohio, USA |
- David Demaree and Betsy Melissa [Hillyer] Halstead moved to Iowa in 1872; Wardwell's letter to Ernest Wileder Halstead in May 1936 indicates David Wileder's 1st child, an infant Leet, Loot [Leigh] died at LaRue, Ohio in 18?7..in that we have the 2nd child of David Wileder, Harley Farnham born Jan 1869...I think it probable that David Wileder and Hannah [Farnham] Halstead married about the same time his brother Orange Billings did. Possibly the same date and place, as he and Orange Billings were veterans returning home from the Civil War. Thus it is probable that David Wileder married his bride also in 1867 and at La Rue. And it would seem that Wardwell's "18?7" would translate to that same year "1867" as that of the birth and death of Leigh.

- Compiler's note: In the 1910 census the children of this marriage [Harry B. and Dorothy W. Halstead are enumerated living with Sophia Blanchard at Richardson, Lincoln County, New Mexico and listed as grandchildren...and again in the 1920 census at Roswell, Chaves County, NM. In the 1880 census William F. and Sophia Blanchard were enumerated in Kinsley, Edwards County, Kansas with a daughter Clara S. Blanchard born 1869 in Maine...identification of the wife of Harry Plum Halstead and mother of the two children needs further research to specifically resolve the riddle...but it appears that she may have been the Clara S. Blanchard whom we have suggested above. May 2008 G.A.H.
