    • A LOCAL WILL
      Probate the will James Halstead, of Brunton House, in the City of Carlisle, was proved at Carlisle on the 25th of January, 1890, the will being dated the 2nd March, 1889, whereby he directed his trustees to pay the rents of his real estate to his wife for her life, except the Inn called the Lome Arms," which he directed to be sold and added to his personal estate, and he charged his personal estate with the payment of £200 per annum, payable to his wife for her life; he also charged his personal estate with £80 per annum for three years to complete the education of his son Edwin Reginald, and with £200 per annum for four years to complete the education of his grandson, Geo. Stanley Kewney, the son of Stanley Kewney, North Shields. He gave to his son George Halstead, all his real estate in English Street and Old Post Office Court, Carlisle (subject as aforesaid), but charged the same with the payment of £170 per annum to his daughter Celia, his son John and daughter Celia each to take one, fifth of the residue of the real and personal estate, He gave to his son Edwin, subject as aforesaid, two houses in Victoria Place, Albert Street, three houses and gardens at Brunton Place, and dwelling-houses and land at Thorny Flatt Place, Carlisle, together with seven shares in the N.E.R. Co., and one-fifth of the residue of his real and personal estate, subject as aforesaid. He directed his trustees to hold his two dwelling-houses and ground statute at Keswick, thirty shares in the Distillers Company, Edinburgh, the sum of £2,000 and one-fifth of the residue of his real and Eersonal estate for the benefit of George Stanley Kewney and Henry Gerard Kewney, sons of Stanley Kewney, solicitor, North Shields. Subject as aforesaid, he directed his trustees to hold the sum of £3,500, thirty shares in the Distillers Company, Edinburgh, and one-fifth of the residue of the real and personal estate for the benefit of his daughter, Julia Holmes, and her issue. The personal estate was sworn at £17,264 18s sd,to augmented by the proceeds of the sale of the "Lome Arms."
