[7] Bury Times - AWFULLY SUDDEN DEATH
On Tuesday we had another instance of the uncertainty of life. James Halstead, a stonemason, aged thirty-eight, residing near to the Wesleyan Chapel, Wesley Place, had been accustomed to getting a good deal of drink, and was drunk on Sunday. On Monday he went to work as usual, but during the day complained of illness, and next day he remained at home. Between four and five o'clock in the afternoon he left home for the purpose of going into the town. He had not gone far, however, when he was seen to fall. Assistance was immediately at hand, and he was removed in a dying state to a cottage close by, and Dr. Stewart was sent for, but before he arrived Halstead was dead. He leaves a family of small children.
