- MOTHER AND CHILD: A SAD CASE
At Otley, on Tuesday, Margaret Yeadon, widow, and Edith, her daughter, aged twelve, were charged with "larceny by trick." On Christmas-eve the elder prisoner - who seems to be a wicked woman - sent her daughter to get a new farthing changed for 10s. in silver. At the Robin Hood, Yeadon, the farthing was tendered for a gill of gin, and refused. The landlord of the Crown Inn, at the same place, gave the girl change for half a sovereign, and the farthing was passed. The mistake was soon discovered, and mother and child were apprehended. The mother was committed for fourteen days and the child was sent to an industrial school.

- Margaret Yeadon, widow, of Yeadon, was charged at Otley, on Tuesday, with stealing 4s. 6d. from the dress-pocket of an old widow woman named Richardson, with whom she lodged at Otley. Prisoner was sentenced to a month's imprisonment.

- THE WILL OF THE LATE MAJOR MIDDELTON
The will of the late Major Ilkley, of one of the leading bequests in which published soma particulars few days ago, is dated 15th October last, and was proved in London December 11th. Under it the deceased's brother. Edward Joseph Middelton, and Benjamin Currer Rawson, of Bradford, solicitor, are appointed executors and trustees. The will states that whereas by an agreement, dated 6th November, 1886, between Mrs. Margaret Yeadon, widow, and testator, the latter was appointed guardian of Mrs. Yeadon's daughter Selina. The testator appoints his servant and housekeeper, Anne Curtis, to be Miss Yeadon guardian until she shall attain the age of 25 years. To Mrs. Curtis, for her sole and separate use, is bequeathed the sum £1,000. The sum of £8,500, free of legacy duty, is bequeathed in trust for the income thereof to be paid to Edward Jos. Middleton during his life, and after his decease to his daughter, Edith Middelton, during her life, with power to appoint the whole or any part thereof to her surviving husband. After the death of testators niece, and subject to such appointment, the £8,500 shall divided between her children or grandchildren in such proportions as she may appoint by will. In the absence of such will the £8,500 will revert to trust for the benefit of her children, the shares of any dying before the age of 21 accruing for benefit of others. To the trustees is bequeathed £500 to be distributed for such charitable purposes at such times and in such manner as they may deem wise and proper. The whole residue of testator's real and personal estate to be held in trust, and the income thereof paid during her life to Miss Yeadon, with power to appoint by deed or will any part not exceeding one moiety thereof to any husband who may survive her during his life or for any less period. Subject to such appointment the residuary funds shall be for the benefit of all or any of the issue of Selina Yeadon, including grandchildren, born in her life-time, in such proportions as she shall direct by deed or will. In default of such appointment the residuary trust funds will revert to trust for division among any child children of hers, the shares of any dying before attaining the age of 21 accruing for the benefit of others. These provisions in favour of Miss Yeadon are, however, not to take effect in the event of her marrying under the age of 25 without the consent of the trustees. In the event of such unsanctioned marriage, or Miss Yeadon dying unmarried before reaching that age, the residuary estate to be held by the trustees for the benefit of the testator's niece, Miss Edith Middelton, subject to the same trusts as the bequest of £8,500
