  	He was a teamster by occupation while in his native country, where more than one-half of his long life has passed. He was twice married and reared a family of nine children, eight sons and one daughter. His first wife, the mother of Peter, his second son, was Margaret Simington, who died in Scotland, at the age of fifty years, leaving four sons and one daughter. The remaining children of the first marriage may here be thus briefly mentioned: Robert, who has never left the country of his birth, is a policeman in Scotland, having been on the force seven years. William, who studied law with the late Judge Gleason, of Delhi, is one of the lights of the legal profession in Denver, Col. Jane , the only daughter, is the wife of Issac Miller, of Pepacton, N.Y. The father emigrated to America in 1868, bringing with him all of his family with the exception of his oldest son, and was thereafter a respected resident of this county.
