  • Notes
    • Per a handwritten document entitled "THE BARTLETT FAMILY OF EAST TENNESSE E" is the following information. This was obtained from Dorothy Billingt on, Excelsior Springs, Missouri in 1986. She obtained it from a cous in to her, Robert Mckeehan, who was researching the BARTLETT and BEALER fa milies. Dorothy Billington is connected to us through the BARTLETT and H ARDESTY line's. Her ancestor is John Hardesty, son of Richard Hardesty a nd Eda Bartlett and a brother to this writer's ancestor, Joseph Bartlett H ardesty.

The information contained in the document is as follow's:

Joseph Bartlett and Millie Rice married and settled in East Tennessee. T hey had seven son's and 2 daughter's, whose names and dates of birth so f ar as known are the following.

      1. Isaac Bartlett, born about 1790. Married Nancy Job
      2. Nathan Bartlett, born about 1792 . Married his cousin, Matilda Bartl ett, daughter of Nathan.
      3. Irving Bartlett, born about 1794. Married Maria ?
      4. William Bartlett, born about 1796. Married Esther ?
      5. Joshua Bartlett, born about 1798. Married ?
      6. Henry Bartlett, born about 1801. Married ?
      7. Elizabeth Bartlett, born about 1802. Married Joseph Bartlett, a cous in.
      8. Polly Bartlett, born about 1804. Married E. Marshbanks.
      9. Elisha Bartlett, born about 1806 and lived a bachelor.

The remainder of the document gives family information on Eda Bartlett a nd Richard Hardesty family as well as family information on Matilda Bartle tt and William Bealer.

Much of the information written matches with record's found in census a nd in marriage record's.

No doubt further research is needed to verify information .

To this writer's knowledge no information has surfaced as to the parenta ge of Joseph Bartlett.
In the 1980's this writer exchanged phone call's and some corresponden ce with J. Hobart Bartlett , who I believe now is deceased. He had be en researching this Bartlett family for 50 years.
