    • BRIGHT ROAD LIGHTS A MOTOR-DRIVER’S COMPLAINT
At inquest at Warrington yesterday, complaints of the bright lights of an American vehicle were made by a motor driver.
The inquest was on George Bell Halstead, aged 62. steel erector, Hall Avenue. South Shore, Blackpool, lodging in Longshaw Street, Warrington, who was fatally injured in Folly Lane, Warrington. on December 16, by a car driven by Walter Griffiths, traffic manager, of Birtles Road. Orford, Warrington. Griffiths told the coroner, Mr. C. Bolton, that the lights of an American vehicle in his rear, shining through the back window of his car on to an inside mirror, obscured his vision and caused him to drive with the utmost caution. He was travelling 20 to 25 m.p.h. It was pitch-black night, and he did not see the man until he struck him.
After the coroner had returned a verdict of “Death from misadventure." Mr. T. Steel, junior solicitor for the driver, said that those who had to meet and be followed by these American vehicles had experienced great inconvenience. The lights of these vehicles were a danger to other users of the road.
