William Tennyson Robert HOLSTEAD

#7550, b. 7 February 1897, d. 5 April 1948
William Tennyson Robert HOLSTEAD William dropped the middle name of Tennyson in adult life as he thought that it was pretentious. There is a story in the family that they are related to Alfred Lord TENNYSON but I am not so sure.

Edwin HOLSTEAD, William's father, is more likely to be the link to the TENNYSON name if there is one. he was in fact born as Edwin HOLBROOK two years before his mother married Edwin HOLSTEAD. Her parents were William HOLBROOK and Margaret Tennison BRANSTROM who were married in April 1837 (just before civil registration so no details of their parents)

Claudia MARTIN, William's granddaughter, has some interesting research on the Tennyson name.
William Tennyson Robert HOLSTEAD was born on 7 February 1897 at Halifax, Yorkshire, England.1 He was the son of Edwin HOLSTEAD and Mary Emma AKED. In the census of 31 March 1901 at 8 Swires Terrace, Halifax, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as aged 4 born Halifax, the son of Edwin HOLSTEAD.2 In the census of 2 April 1911 at 20 West Parade, Halifax, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as aged 14 born Halifax, the son of Edwin HOLSTEAD.3
William married Annie Kathleen RILEY in 1934 in the Halifax registration district.4 He was listed in the 1939Register taken on 29 September 1939 at 18 Emscote Place, Halifax, Yorkshire, England. He was married, a Master Joiner, born 7 February 1897. There was one other redacted person in the household.5 William Tennyson Robert HOLSTEAD was the executor of Edwin HOLSTEAD's estate granted on 18 September 1942 at Llandudno, Conway, Wales; £10,279 11s 2d.6
William died on 5 April 1948 at 27 Hyde Park Gardens, Halifax, Yorkshire, England, at the age of 51.7,6 His estate was probated on 6 January 1949 at London, England. The estate was valued at £21,9794 7s 1d.6
