Sidney Wight., 23 painter, was charged with breaking and entering the dwelling house of his father, James Watering Wight, of the " Prince of Wales," Bracknell, on February 9th, and stealing therein several articles of clothing of the value of £3 10s. 6d. He pleaded not guilty.
Mr. H. Sturges, who appeared for the prosecution, said that a lodger at the house complained of missing a pair of trousers, and it was then ascertained that a window had been broken and the place entered. The prisoner was seen to leave Bracknell with a bag, and he was afterwards traced to Islington, where it was found that the mining articles had been pawned. The accused had hitherto borne a good character, but It seemed he went away with a young woman and got into rather low water. He had been in the Army and in the merchant service. On one occasion he was wrecked off the coast of South Africa, and had the good fortune to be able to swim ashore.
The Chairman said the Court had decided to take a very lenient course with regard to the accused, who had been in prison nearly two months. He would be released upon his own recognitions of £10.4 Sidney immigrated from Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, arriving on 10 November 1908 He travelled to Quebec on the Pretorian.

The Admiralty announces the loss of H.M. trawlers Canna (Lieutenant W. N. Bishop-Laggett, R.N.R.), Bengali (Lieutenant R. S. Penby, R.N.R.) and Spaniard (Lieutenant J. B. Love, R.N.R.), at Lagos (West Africa) on Saturday.
The losses were caused by a petrol fire and explosions. Some damage was caused to dockyard buildings.

A report from said the fire was not due to enemy action. There were five explosions following the fire, which was caused by escaping oil.
Lieutenant Bishop-Laggett was formerly a London police constable, and hero of I.R.A bomb explosions in the West End in November, 1939.
