     William HALSTEAD was born in 1802 at Manchester, Lancashire.
William married Elizabeth GRIMSHAW on 30 August 1830 at Cathedral, Manchester, Lancashire. He was a Gentleman, a bachelor residing in this parish. married by Licence. The marriage was witnessed by J R WHITE and Harriet ASHWORTH.1
In the census of 7 June 1841 at Higher Broughton, Broughton, Lancashire, William was listed as aged 40 born in county, the Head of Household; a Solicitor, living with his assumed wife Eliza and son Herbert.2
In the census of 30 March 1851 at Bank Ground, Hawkshead, Lancashire, William was listed as aged 52 born Manchester, the Head of Household; a Retired Solicitor, living with his wife Eliza.3
In the census of 7 April 1861 at Hunts Bank, Lower Allithwaite, Lancashire, William was listed as aged 66 born Manchester, the Head of Household; a Landed Proprietor, living with his wife Elizabeth, son Robert.4
His wife, Elizabeth, died on 4 December 1861 at Grange-over-Sands, Lancashire.5,6
