Research Note: As the result of a skid on Wingate Hill, Harbledown. on Monday night a steam wagon and trailer, loaded with meat and owned by the Union Cartage Co., of Smithfteld, came to an inglorious rest in the garden of Willowdown at the foot of the hill. When the wagon first began to skid, a large box of meat fell from the trailer into the road, and then the hedge was smashed flat. The driver, Thomas Kittridge, of East Ham escaped hurt, but the wagon and trailer could not extricated until late the next afternoon.4 He was listed in the 1939Register taken on 29 September 1939 at 34 White Horse Road, East Ham, Essex, England.
