Research Note: The marrages of Mr Henry Dixon, son of Mr George Dixon of Sneyd park, Clifton, and late of Nore house, Portishead, with Miss Caroline Barlow, only surviving daughter of Mr E. B. Hussey, of Southslde, Portishead, took place at St. Peter's on Wednesday. The rector, the Rev James Strurt, offlciated, The bride was given away by her father, and the best man was Mr Edward Dixon. brother of the bridegroom. The bride was attired in a dress of ivory corded silk, and a tulle veil and a spray of orange blossom; she carried a magnificent bouquet of choice white exotiea, the gift of the bridegroom, The bridesmaids were Miss Dixon (sister of the bridegroom), Miss Gertrude Harvey, and Miss Challice, each of whom carried bouquets, the gift of the bridegroom. The organist, Mr W T, Roe, played several selections and Menndelssohn's "Weddlng March " while the register was being signed, Both the bride and bridegroom have taken a very active part in the Church Sunday school, temperance, and other work in the parish, and a very large number off friends were present at the ceremony. A reception was held at Carisbrooke, the residence of Mrs Loram, the bride's aunt, and later in the day Mr and Mrs Dixon left for Salisbury, en route for the Isle of Wight.3

We regret to record the death of Mr. Harry John William (“Jack ") Apps, of 7, Portland Terrace, New Bosham, at the Royal West Sussex Hospital, Chichester, on Saturday, after a prolonged illness.
An extremely popular resident and a native of Bosham, Mr. Apps. who was 41 years of age. leaves a son. age 18, who sailed for Japan a week previous to his father's death. The funeral at Bosham Church, on Wednesday, was conducted by the Vicar of Bosham, the Rev. G. Street, M.A.
The family mourners were: Mr. H. Apps (father). Mr. V. Aprs (brother), Mrs. S. J. Balchin (sister), Mr. and Mrs. H. Fowler (brother-in-law and sister). Mr. and Mrs. L. Mrs. McCarthy and family), and Mr. and Mrs. G. Reed and family.6

On Saturday a very pretty wedding took place at the Parish Church, when Miss Sybil Apps, of Portland Terrace, Bosham, and Mr. Leslie Wood, of Chichester (a prominent member of the Chichester Corinthians' Football Club) were united in matrimony. The ceremony was performed by the Vicar (Rev. G. Street). The bride's dress was of white satin with old Brussels lace, veil, and orange blossom; she wore white satin shoes, and she carried a bouquet of white lilies, sweet-peas and heather. The bridesmaids were Miss K. Fowler, Miss J. Fowler, Miss M. Frogbrook, Miss H. Gilby, Miss Pattie Ede and Miss Maisie Ede. They wore dresses of blue satin Besute. Master Kenneth Bailey acted as attendant. Mr. Val Apps was best man. The bride was given away by her father, Mr. H. Apps. Mr. and Mrs. Apps were the recipients of a large number of presents. which included the following:

The bride's going away dress was of turquoise blue, with hat to match. The honeymoon is being spent at Wittering and London.2 She was listed in the 1939Register taken on 29 September 1939 at Sunny Mead, Westmead Road, New Fishbourne, Sussex, England, She was married, born 12 December 1903.5
Her husband, Leslie, died on 18 July 1984 at 16 Westmead Road, Fishbourne, Sussex, England, at the age of 74.6,7
Sybil died in December 1996 at Chichester, Sussex, England.8
