Sarah Ann HELLIWELL was born in 1838 at Heptonstall, Yorkshire. She was the daughter of Bessy HELLIWELL.
Sarah married Halstead PICKLES, son of Thomas PICKLES and Betty HALSTEAD, on 13 November 1858 at St John the Baptist, Halifax, Yorkshire. She was aged 21, a spinster residing in Langfield. Her father was not listed. After Banns. The marriage was witnessed by James CLEGG and John THOMAS.2,3
In the census of 7 April 1861 at Toy Shop, 2 Style Gate Bottom, Stansfield, Yorkshire, she was listed as aged 23 born Hebden Bridge, the wife of Halstead PICKLES (a Smith & Mechanic, living with his wife Sarah A, daughter Mary A, sister Elizabeth PICKLES, mother-in-law Bessey HELLIWELL.)4
In the census of 2 April 1871 at 23 York Street, Langfield, Yorkshire, she was listed as aged 35 born Halifax, the wife of Halstead PICKLES (a Linen Draper, living with his wife Sarah A, sons Charles and Fred H, daughters Mary Ann, Emily, Sarah J and Clara, grandmother Bessey HELLIWELL.)5
In the census of 3 April 1881 at 23 York Street, Langfield, Yorkshire, she was listed as aged 43 born Heptonstall, the wife of Halstead PICKLES (a Furnisher Dealer, living with his wife Sarah A, sons Charles, Fred H and Frank, daughters Mary A, Emily, Clara, Ellen and Betsy.)6
In the census of 5 April 1891 at 23 York Street, Langfield, Yorkshire, she was listed as a Draper, aged 53 born Hebden Bridge, the wife of Halstead PICKLES (a House Furnisher, living with his wife Sarah A, son Frank, daughters Emily, Clara, Ellen and Betsy.)7
In the census of 31 March 1901 at 50 Stansfield Road, Todmorden, Yorkshire, she was listed as aged 64 born Heptonstall, the wife of Halstead PICKLES (a House Furnisher, living with his wife Sarah Ann, son Frank, daughters Emily and Clara.)8
Sarah died on 2 June 1906 at 50 Claremont Place, Todmorden, Yorkshire.9
