In the census of 5 April 1891 at 7 Parkinson Place, Colne, Lancashire, he was listed as aged 7 born Colne, the son of William NORMANTON.3 In the census of 31 March 1901 at 9 Parkinson Place, Colne, Lancashire, he was listed as single, a Cotton Weaver, aged 17 born Colne, the adopted grandson of Mariabele BLACKBURN.4 In the census of 2 April 1911 at Windy Bank, Colne, Lancashire, he was listed as single, a Rag Gatherer, aged 26 born Colne, a Lodger of Joseph Henry GREGSON.5
