Research Note: The wedding of Driver Leslie Halstead, R.A.S.C., only son of Mr. and Mrs W. Halstead, of 19, Dean-street, Trawden, and Miss Mary Kelly McGrory, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex. McGrory, of 56, McLaurin-crescenL Johnstone, Renfrewshire, Scotland, was celebrated at St. Mary’s Church on Wednesday, the vicar, Rev. Canon Dempsey, M.A; performing the ceremony. The bride was tastefully attired in a grey coat and navy blue silk dress, with hat and shoes to match. Miss Alice Halstead was bridesmaid, and she wore a fawn check costume, with shoes and hat to tone. Mr. Harry Duerden (friend of the bridegroom) was best man, and also gave the bride away. Driver Halstead is serving in Scotland, and he and his wife will take up residence at 56, McLaurin-crescent, Johnstone, Renfrewshire.4
Leslie died on 10 August 1959 at The Royal Infirmary, Paisley, Renfrewshire, at the age of 45. Village Losses

On Sunday the death occurred of Mr. Arthur Hargreaves, of 5 Rock Lane Trawden. Mr. Hargreaves, who was 62 years of age, was highly respected in the village. He had lived in Trawden before going to reside at Hesketh Bank, and had returned to the village some time ago. He was connected with the Zion Independent Methodist Church, and is survived by his widow. On Monday the death took place of Mrs. Hannah Halstead, of 12 Colne Road. Trawden, who was aged 65 years. She was well-known and respected. Jand was connected with St. Mary's Church. Both funerals took place yesterday at Trawden Cemetery.5,6 Hannah was buried on 20 October 1949 at the Cemetery, Trawden, Lancashire, Funeral of Mrs. Halstead.
The funeral took place at Trawaen Cemetery on Thursday of last week of Mrs. Hannah Halstead, of 12 Colne Road, whose death, at the age of 65 years, on the 17th inst., was reported in our last issue. The Rev. G. H. Richards officiated throughout. Floral tributes were received from the following: “With all our love to Mother,” her sorrowing husband and children; “With fondest love to Grandma,” Allan, Kathleen, John and Mary; her sister, Agnes and Jack; Mrs. Blackburn and family; Mr. and Mrs. Ryan; Mary and Jim (Black Lane Ends); Ada; Mr. and Mrs. Kimberley; Donald Nutter; Gertie, Gladys and Willie: Mrs. Pateman and family; Trawden Women’s Guild; Minnie; Mrs. Fred Driver; Jim and Emma; Mr. and Mrs. W. Bannister; Mrs. Heaton Smith and Fanny Birtwistle; Auntie Mille and Uncle Wilk; Ernest, Kate and John; Polly; Frank, Lucy and Ethel; Arthur, Millie and children. Mr. J. Bannister. Hollin Hall. Trawden, carried out the arrangements.7
