     Fred HALSTEAD was born on 6 November 1908 at Huddersfield, Yorkshire.1 He was the son of Ernest HALSTEAD and Annie Jane BOTTOMLEY. In the census of 2 April 1911 at 19 St Thomas Road, Huddersfield, Yorkshire, he was listed as aged 2 born Huddersfield, the nephew of Sam BOTTOMLEY.2
Fred married Ethel PICKERING in 1936 in the Huddersfield registration district.3 He was listed in the 1939Register taken on 29 September 1939 at 43 Thorne Road, Huddersfield, Yorkshire. He was married, a Joiner, born 6 November 1908.4
