     Research Note: According to the baptism entry for Hannah's daughter Elizabeth she was a widow.
The baptism of Hannah's son Samuel in 1834 was on the same day as the burial of her husband.
The 1841 census has her living with a Jane HIRST.
This then led me to the marriage of Samuel HALSTEAD to Hannah HIRST in 1833. Her married name was HALSTEAD.1
Hannah HIRST was born in 1813 at Stansfield, Yorkshire.
Hannah married Samuel HALSTEAD on 22 December 1833 at St John the Baptist, Halifax, Yorkshire. She was a spinster residing in Southowram. By Banns. The marriage was witnessed by William RUSHWORTH and Isaac INGHAM.1
Her husband, Samuel, died in April 1834 at Southowram, Yorkshire.
In the census of 6 June 1841 at Old Bank, Southowram, Yorkshire, Hannah was listed as a Worsted Reeler, aged 30 born in county, the Head of Household; living with her assumed daughter Elizabeth HALSTEAD and sister Jane HIRST.2

     James HALSTEAD was born in 1792 at Yorkshire.
James married Amelia SMYTHIES on 9 December 1815 at St John the Baptist, Halifax, Yorkshire. He was a Comber of Barkisland. After Banns. The marriage was witnessed by Patience BRASSEY and Wm RUSHWORTH.1
In the census of 6 June 1841 at Kershaw Yard, Southowram, Yorkshire, James was listed as aged 45 born in county, the Head of Household; a Wool Comber, living with his assumed wife Amelia, daughters Mary, Rachel and Sarah, sons Robert, Henry and David.2
James died in 1848 at Southowram, Yorkshire.3

John HALSTEAD

     John HALSTEAD was born in 1794 at Yorkshire.
John married Fanny WILLSON on 12 September 1819 at All Hallows, Kirkburton, Yorkshire. He was of this parish. After Banns. The marriage was witnessed by Wm HUTCHINSON, Henry HOLSTEAD and Joseph WILSON.1
In the census of 6 June 1841 at Highburton, Kirkburton, Yorkshire, John was listed as aged 47 born in county, the Head of Household; a Weaver, living with his assumed wife Fanny and assumed children George, Ben, Reuben, Ann, Rachel, Harriet, Fanny, Sarah Ann, John and Allen.2
John died on 1 February 1850 and his death was registered in the Huddersfield registration district.3

William BROOME

     William BROOME was born in 1820 at Kirkheaton, Yorkshire. He was the son of John BROOME.
William married Elizabeth HALSTEAD, daughter of John HALSTEAD and Ann FARRAR, on 24 September 1843 at St John the Baptist, Halifax, Yorkshire. He was a Spinner aged 23, a bachelor residing in Halifax. His father was listed as John BROOME, a Dyer. By Certificate. The marriage was witnessed by John THOMAS and Isaac INGHAM.1,2
In the census of 30 March 1851 at 41 Back Yard, Thomas Street, Huddersfield, Yorkshire, William was listed as aged 30 born Kirkheaton, the Head of Household; a Woollen Engineer, living with his wife Elizabeth, son Allen, daughters Margaret and Hannah R.3
William died in 1852 at Huddersfield, Yorkshire.4 William was buried on 5 April 1852 at St Paul, Huddersfield, Yorkshire.

Emma HALSTEAD was born on 26 July 1836 at Dalton, Yorkshire. She was the daughter of Henry HALSTEAD and Ann COPLEY. Emma HALSTEAD was baptised on 25 September 1836 at Kirkheaton, Yorkshire. In the census of 6 June 1841 at Dalton, Yorkshire, she was listed as aged 4 born in county, the assumed daughter of Henry HALSTEAD.1 In the census of 30 March 1851 at 509 Storthes, Dalton, Yorkshire, she was listed as a Cotton Winder, aged 14 born Dalton, the daughter of Henry HALSTEAD.2
Emma married James DYSON on 19 October 1857 at St John the Baptist, Kirkheaton, Yorkshire. She was aged 21, a spinster residing in Dalton. Her father was listed as Henry HALSTEAD, a Labourer. After Banns. The marriage was witnessed by David HANSON and Allan SWALLOW.3,4
