There was a large congregation at the Wirksworlh Baptist Church on Wednesday morning on the occasion of the wedding of Mr Percy Hastead. elder son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Halstead, the Gas Works. Wirksworth, and Miss Mary T. Stirzaker, younger daughter of Mrs. Stirzaker and the late Mr. B. Stlrzaker. Hares Run House. Wirksworth. The Rev, I. A. Ward officiated, and the service was choral. Mr. R Hatchett playing appropriate priate wedding music.
The bride, who was given away by her cousin. Mr. E. H. Roose. Liverpool, wore a pale blue Venetian cloth costume with black tulle picture hat trimmed with ostrich plume.she also carried a shower bouquet composed of lilies of the valley, chrysanthemums, camelias. heather and smilax. Attendant on the bride were two bridesmaids, the Misses A Stirzaker (sister of the bride). and Hilda Halstead (sister of the bridegroom), and they were in brown Venetian cloth costumes and hats to tone, they also wore pretty gold brooches, gifts of the bridegroom Mr Wilfred Ogden, Stockport, acted as groomsman.
The bridegroom is well-known in the Chesterfield district where he holds the position of manager of gas works for the Sheepbridge Coal and Iron Co. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the bride's home, attended be a largre circle of well wishing friends. Later in the day Mr. and Mrs. Halstead left for their new home at Brimington.
There followed a long this of weddnig gifts.2

Research Note: THE VALUE OF A WATCH.
THE RESULT OF GETTING INTO A BAD CLIQUE.
At the Dover Police Court on Monday, before Mr. W. Bradley and Alderman Sellens,
Samuel Thomas Halstead (20), of 24, Winchelsea St., was charged with stealing from a barrack room at Archcliffe Fort, a nickel wrist watch, valued at £1 Is., the property of Frank Buckwell.
Frank Harold Buckwell, a signalman in the Royal Corps of Signals, Archcliffe Fort, identified the watch as his property. He knew the defendant by sight, as he had seen him in the barrack room.He was there on Friday about 9.15 a.m.Witness missed his watch about 10 a.m. It hung on a hook over the bed. He telephoned to Langdon Battery, where the only other two men in the barrack room were. Information was given to the police.
Frederick Austen, of 12, Russell Place, isaid he had known the defendant since 1922. On Friday, the defendant came to his house and showed him the watch He said that he got it from a friend in exchange for his own and 2s. Jokingly he (witness) said he would give him 2s. 6d. for.it, and defendant said "3s." Witness gave him 3s. for it. On Sunday witness handed the watch over to Detective Constable Pay.
Detective Constable Pay said that, in consequence of information received on Saturday, he made enquiries, with the result that at 11.45 on Sunday morning he went to the Admiralty Pier, where he saw the defendant. He questioned him about the watch. Defendant admitted that he was in the barrack room on Friday, and that he took the watch.He said he had sold it to Austen for 3s. Witness went to 12, Russell Place with the defendant, and recovered the watch. When charged at the Police Station; the defendant made no reply. He was admitted to bail.
Defendant pleaded guilty. He said he was suffering from hemorrhage at the time, and it was worrying him. He took it unintentionally, and wanted to take it back as soon as he got it.
The Chairman: What were you doing there? —I have to go every Monday and Friday for washing for Mr. Brown, of Clarendon Place.
Mrs. Halstead, defendant's mother said that a clique he had got into was gradually drawing him away from home. She hoped this would be a lesson to him.
Defendant was bound over for six months, and put on probation.3
Samuel married Ethel M IVERSON in 1931 in the Dover registration district.4
Samuel died on 23 January 1933 at 3 Blucher Row, Dover, Kent, England.5,3 Samuel was buried on 27 January 1933 at Charlton Cemetery, Dover, Kent, England.3

The funeral took place on Saturday, at Charlton Cemetery, of Mr. Samuel Thomas Halstead, of 3, Blucher Row, who died on January 23rd, at the age of 25 years. The Rev. S. G. Tweed officiated, and the mourners present were:—Mrs. S. T. Halstead (wife), Mrs Pay (mother), Mrs. Bell (sister), William Halstead (brother). Mr. Nelson Halstead (brother), Miss Edith Halstead (sister), Henry Iverson (step son), and Mr. Warran (brother-in-law).

Floral tributes were sent as follows;—To my affectionate Husband, from his ever loving Wife; His heartbroken Mother and Uncle Alf; Mr. and Mrs. Bell and family(Enfield); brother Bill and Ethel; brother Nelson, sisters Edith and Florence; little Alfy and Winkles; Henry and Jessy, Ethel, Freddie and Grandma; Mr. and Mrs. Page and family; Mrs. Cawte, Emmy, vicky and Dave; Mr. and Mrs. Bryant and family, Members of the Dover Unemployed Organisation. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. B. J. Andrews, of 22, New St., 34, Longfield Rd.3
