Fratton Man's Death After Fall.
A verdict of "Death from natural causes" was returned by the Deputy Coroner for Portsmouth (Mr. P. H. Childs, J.P.), at an inquest at the Guildhall, yesterday afternoon, on the body of Leonard Albert James (77), of 26, Walton Street, Fratton, who died on January 31, following a fall near his lodgings.
Mrs. Georgina Thorne, a neighbour, said she saw the deceased man, lying in the gutter, outside his lodgings, and making a funny noise in his throat. She obtained assistance, and he was taken to his lodgings.
Dr. P. H. Boyden, who had attended the deceased man, said James had curvature of the spine, and was suffering from bronchial pneumonia of the left lung, which probably caused his death.⁵
