Lawrence Halstead Heap, and Richard Thorburn, were charged with being drunk and riotous on the 12th inst. P.C. Swift stated that prisoner Thorburn was fighting with another man, and Heap was assisting him. There was a great crowd round them. —In answer the charge, the prisoners said they were compelled to fight, and if the police had not come to them they would have been badly handled. The magistrates, believing their story, discharged them.5

In the census of 3 April 1881 at 7 St Domingo Vale, Everton, Lancashire, he was listed as aged 4 born Liverpool, the son of Halstead HOLDEN.2 In the census of 5 April 1891 at 7 St Domingo Vale, Everton, Lancashire, he was listed as a Cotton Broker's Apprentice, aged 14 born Liverpool, the son of Lucy HOLDEN.3 In the census of 31 March 1901 at 7 St Domingo Vale, Everton, Lancashire, he was listed as single, an Insurance Clerk, aged 24 born Liverpool, the brother-in-law of John HIVEY.4 In the census of 2 April 1911 at 16 Hillside Road, Wallasey, Cheshire, he was listed as single, a Fire Insurance Clerk, aged 34 born Liverpool, the brother of Thomas HOLDEN.5
